Rhoeo Gold (Tradescantia spathacea) has gorgeous yellow-gold strappy, sword-shaped leaves, with a pinkish underside. It can reach 20cm-40cm in height and grows as a clump. It looks great as a low border, in mass plantings or as a potted plant.

Rhoeo Gold has small, white flowers, mostly in spring to summer, but can be year round. These flowers are enclosed in bracts that resemble a boat, which gave rise to the names Boat Lily and Moses in the Cradle.

Tradescatia spathacea likes a position in full sun to part shade in freely draining organic mix. It is mostly drought tolerant in the garden once established. Water regularly until then. These plants can tolerate short periods of low temperatures, as long as they are not too wet. They are not generally frost tolerant, although may survive the occasional light frost.
