DESCRIPTION

Hatiora salicornioides, previously known as Rhipsalis salicornioides, is a bushy cactus, that grows either upright or slightly pendulous (hanging down). It has unusual jointed stems with slender tips that can resemble bottles (or bones), hence the names Drunkard's Dream Cactus and Dancing Bones Cactus. Its flowers are small and yellow to orange, blooming in spring to summer.

Position Hatiora salicornioides in a shaded area that gets filtered light or morning or evening sun. They do not like full sun and will not do well. Unlike desert cactus, Hatiora and Rhipsalis like a slightly acidic soil with organic matter. An orchid mix or good quality compost with some bark pieces and perlite work well.

**Larger (100mm) plants have their mature woody stems**
